WI electors allowed to meet and re ballot

I have heard it claimed that most people at the Convention thought that going to the House would be usual way Presidents were chosen.

They did not love the more popular institution or the bias for small states

Suppose they said that electors woudl meet and be allowed to have 2nd and subsequent ballots with election by the House resevered for deadlock after say 10 ballots.

1800 is different. The 12th amendment does not happen.

More significant people become electors

Anything else?

This would make it harder to get the small states to support the proposed Constitution. For them, the fact that it was widely assumed that in most elections no candidate would get an Electoral College majority--and that therefore the elections would go into the House *where each state delegation, large or small, would have one vote*--was a feature, not a bug.
