WI: El Cid lives longer?

What happens if El Cid, one of the greatest Spanish generals of all time, lives a year longer, to 1100, and continues to beat back the Almoravids?

Perhaps, but I dunno man. I mean, I like El Cid; he was a badass and cool guy but he only ruled the small Kingdom of Valencia. It's hard to tell what would happen if he had lived longer. Something so small might not make a huge difference unless he somehow manages to convince the rest of Spain to come to his aid against the invading Almoravids.

Maybe the Reconquista happens just a little bit faster?

the big delays to the reconquista were not the lack of able generals, but continual disunity among the christians, and (in the later phases) the understandable view that at least some of the taifas were more valuable as tithe paying vassals/protectorates, than as conquered lands.

Not sure what Rodrigo does to change either of those.
