WI Eisenhower's family had not emigrated

Who knows? Eisenhower wouldn't be Eisenhower as we know him if he grew up in Germany. Rommel wouldn't be Rommel either. Going from one country to another changes a person, particularly a child. If Stalin's family moved to New York City when he was 7 for some reason he wouldn't have grown up to be a dictator. He may well have been a thug of some sort but not a dictator as the culture wasn't conducive of that. If Andrew Carnage's family moved to Germany when he was five he probably wouldn't have been a steel magnate with Germany's well developed iron industry already being there.

Which emigration of the Eisenhauer/Eisenhower family are you talking about?

The emigration from Germany to Switzerland in the 17th century, or the emigration from Switzerland to the British Colonies in the early 18th century?

Any which way you look at it though, the Eisenhauer/Eisenhower family left Germany 400 years ago. A whole bushel of butterflies lies between then and the birth of little Ike.

Exactly. That many centuries of butterflies means a totally different 20th century.

Even the strongest butterfly nets cant get the same marriages to work on a different continent. So 'Ike' is guaranteed not only not to exist, but to not have any close relative in such a tl.

Unless the Question is "What if Eisenhower's family emigrated to Germany?" insted.

Unless the Question is "What if Eisenhower's family emigrated to Germany?" instead.

The answer is the same.

For example, I have ancestors who came to (what is presently) the US from (what today is) Germany at different periods - 1750s, 1830s, 40s & 70s. Their comings and goings at different times (plus to/from different locations) create different butterflies, but butterflies all the same, as OTL ancestor "X" will most likely not meet their OTL spouse nor have the same life experience.

So, if Hans Nikolaus Eisenhauer of Karlsbrunn (Principality of Nassau-Saarbrücken) doesn't immigrate to Pennsylvania in 1741, the subsequent Eisenhauer family tree will be different. If he does and if all goes as per OTL for his family, but then, for what ever reason, David Eisenhower (Ike's father), takes his engineering skills to Germany in the late 1870s or early 80s rather than the American mid-west, he'll never meet Ida Stover. This all holds true for her maternal and paternal families as well. There will be no David Dwight (the name on the birth certificate) Eisenhower, nor anyone just like our Ike, born on October 14, 1890.

As D TH put it up thread,
That many centuries of butterflies means a totally different 20th century.
