WI: egyptian victory at the Battle of Pelusium (525 BCE)

What if the ancient egyptians had managed to hold the line at the Battle of Pelusium, holding back the achaemenid persians?
For how long would Egypt be able to maintain its independence under a native dynasty?

That would mean a fame and glory for the Egyptian army and the pharaoh and shame for the Persians.
All depend on the actual result of the battle, if the Persian losses are big, there might be some riots in the Achaemenid Empire.
Egypt might take advantage of that and strengthen the buffer zone in Sinai and Syria, punish the treacherous Arabs.
Well, playing it's cards wisely Egypt might stay independent for centuries, it has the best defensible position in the region.
Now Egypt has the native army proved good by defeating the Great Power...

It really depends on how the battle went. A narrow victory with huge Egyptian losses will cripple them, but a large victory with relatively low casualties will give enormous prestige to Psamtik III. And of course, if Cambyses happens to die, there will be time for Psamtik to consolidate. If he can do that, Egypt can remain independent for a very long time.
