WI Edward VIII enters politics after his abdication?

The question seems to be mired between two different questions.

1. Could he have gone into politics?
2. Would he get anywhere?

The answers would seem to be
1. Yes.
2. No.

To say things like
That only became possible in 1963 after Benn's campaign.
are true, they deny the ability for Edward to be the one who brings about this change.

Personally I am not convinced that the answer to whether he would get anywhere is so clear cut, if he wins a seat he wins a seat. The idea that you really need 'experience' to become a cabinet minister would come as news to most of the electorate. It all comes down to the PM.

Would Edward be much good at playing politics? The answer would seem to be no. On the otherhand if he could win a seat, not impossible in my view since he was reasonably popular, he would be in the position to work his way up.

If Edward wants badly to enters politics the only position a PM can offer him would have been a purely ceremonial one... like Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster perhaps... He would be harmless in that position...

If Edward did go into politics he would have huge support the Working Class people loved him.
Churchill, Mosley and even Lloyd George would likely have joined his party.
Most the press would have backed it too.
A party that promoised Social Reform and Patriotism at the time would have blew the other two away.
