I've seen an East German newsreel dating from the time when NVA was founded where the new uniforms were paraded. The commentator proudly announced that unlike the 'American-influenced' uniforms of the West German Army, those of the Nationale Volksarmee followed the German tradition -- i.e. were almost exactly the same as Wehrmacht Heere uniforms (you can find the video here ), they also used the M56 stahlhelm (that was created by the wehrmacht in 1944 but it wasn't used during the war), eastern germany also used the STG44 until the mid-late 1960s, so I have a question: What if eastern germany, instead of adopting the soviet MIG 15 they had used the ME262? Czechoslovakia did used that fighter until 1951, so I don't know if the soviets would see that as a problem
