WI: Earlier Arab Attack on Constantinople

What if during the reign of Uthman I, no civil unrest happens. There were plans of attacking Constantinople but the nations fell into civil war. If this does not happen, could the Arabs successfully take Constantinople? I don't think Greek Fire was invented at the time

We are talking about the man that reigned in the mid 600s, correct? If so, I really don't think that even a strong Muslim offensive could reach Constantinople. The most they could do was launch raids, just pinprick no matter how far in they did raid.

Though I do believe that greek fire was created by then, as the Byzantines were said to have used it against the Muslim fleet during the siege of Constantinople in 672.

Greek fire seems to have been created pretty late in the day; it's mentioned as a new invention that surprised the Arabs, which, if the Byzantines had had it beforehand, seems surprising.
