WI: Earlier Anaconda Plan

1) How might Winfield Scott's plan, which bore prescient similarity to the ultimate Union successes, have won out in the early days, over the emphasis on attacking jn the east?

2) What might happen if it was decided upon as the main Union plan of attack from the beginning?
 
Well instead of the quick victory brought to us by Fightin' George McClellan in 1862 I can for see the war getting mired down and lasting well into '63, maybe even '64.

Probably cost Lincoln his second term.
