WI: Eamon de Valera dies in 1916

In OTL Eamon de Valera very nearly faced the firing squad after the Easter Rising as the rest of the Rising's leaders had. Of course, multiple considerations not least of which his U.S. citizenship ended up sparing him. But, suppose he had been killed. What does the IRB/Dail look like without Dev and the bulk of its leadership? Does Michael Collins step up into what OTL were de Valera's shoes or does someone else lead the revolution?

I don't see the Big Fella taking the top spot simply because that doesn't strike me as his style.
If he can avoid it I'd see him backing Griffith for the figurehead role, with Collins continuing to lead the armed campaign.
