What if the Dutch Republic's navy had managed to defeat the outnumbered forces of its spanish-filipino enemies at the battles of La Naval De Manila (1646)? Could the dutch take hold of Manila and, thus, the Philippines?
If so, then what are the effects on the dutch and spanish colonial empires?
Will the dutch attach their new colony to the DEI, if company rule is abolished?
How does this affect dutch power projection in the South China Sea and the Pacific?
With the dutch in control of Spain's silver dumping post and overall trade point into China, what are the effects on the spanish colonial empire in the Americas?
How will the dutch deal with the southern filipino sultanates? And with the catholic filipinos?

Inner Luzon is still pagan at this point..the dutch can ally with them...like they did with the Kingdom of Gowa.

We also get Islamized and become an extension of Indonesia. Or maybe Malaysia, if the British come down hard on the Dutchmen. :p

Or you become protestant ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Seriously, though, i wonder what the dutch will do with filipino religion. Will they proselytize?

I don't think they can get the whole Philippines, I think the Philippines might be partitioned to two different colonizers creating new colonies..because they might overstretch...

I think Northern half of Luzon would end up in a similar fate to Sulawesi while the central Philippines ends up being the relocation of the Ming Loyalists which is the Manila area to North of Mindanao, since the Chinese population are located in that area..

The Dutch are not known for their proselytizing. That's why they were the ones who had the monopoly on trading with Japan.

More likely than not, Koxinga conquers Luzon and the southern sultanates stand as independent. :p

Koxinga would conquer the areas of the Philippines which have chinese...which is the Manila area down to Mindanao...and abandon taiwan...

That is, if his death by malaria is butterflied away.
If it's not and Koxinga still dies, how tight will the dutch grip be over Luzon?

I think it would be his son who would be most likely do the conquering of the mid philippines rather than himself...but planned by koxinga..

The Dutch would treat it in the same manner as Sulawesi but they would end up losing it to the English later on likely..

Well if we really look on Indonesia we see large part of the eastern part are Christian today, and in fact in the areas around Timor Christianity are very strong, esspecially Catholicism. So I suspect that if the Dutch takes Philippines this late, it will stay majority Catholic, of course Islam will likely be stronger in the southern part of the country and the "pagans" will likely get away with not being force converted, of course Protestant missionaries will likely convert them in the 19th century. The question are what the inclusion of the Philipines and maybe even Taiwan (I think Dutch Philippines will mean that the Dutch Taiwan will either survive or be retaken), do to Indonesia.
