In other words, what if the Italian Army, Navy and Air Force had generally the same level of military competence, morale and military skills as the Japanese Army, Navy and Air Force had during WW2, say between 1937 and 1945.
I don't want to imply that the Italians adopt any kind of "Latin Bushido" or that they suddenly think Banzai charges are the way out of a desperate situation. And I don't want to give them any equipment that they didn't historically have. (no Italian Long Lance torpedoes).
So, what would be the effect on Italian doctrine, organization, strategy and tactics if the Italian military organizations had a "Japanese" level of military competence and skill. What effect would this (arguably) "increased" level of skill, or at least a very different "attitude" have on the way the Italians handled their military, the army, (e.g. in North Africa, Ethiopia, Russia, Albania, Greece) their navy and their air force.
