WI DuMont channel survived?

What would have happened to television had the DuMont channel survived? I know it crashed and its archives were destroyed in the 70s, but what would the channel look like going through the 50s to the present, and how would that have affected the other three channels?

Big change would be fewer independence channels in the US. Many independent channels would end up airing DuMont programming assuming that Du Mont would be able to produce Quality Programing or at least stuff that people want to watch.

The interesting things I notice when checking out the Wikipedia entry on Du mont, was that Jackie Glesson developed The Honeymooner on Du Mont Cavalcade of Stars. He would then take The Honeymooner to CBS. If Du Mont could keep Glesson and the Honeymooners , that would help keep Du Mont network running.

The Network would also most likely keep The Erinie Kovacs Show. So The Network would have Two talented Comedians.

Didn't DuMont have a rep for quality? If they kept Gleason & stayed afloat (& AIUI, his leaving sunk them:eek:), could they be doing the likes of *"Masterpiece Theatre" or "Nova" instead of PBS?
