Inspired by the "Biden '88" thread. John Sasso is widely considered to be the architect of Dukakis' victory in the 1988 Democratic primaries. However, after he was revealed to have been responsible for the distribution of the Biden/Neil Kinnock videotape, he was forced out of the campaign, replaced by the spectacularly incompetent Susan Estrich, and the rest was history.
But what if Dukakis hadn't had his brainfart and kept Sasso in the campaign, reasoning that as he had gotten him the nomination, he could get him the presidency? How is the campaign affected? Would Sasso be able to prevent the "Snoopy in the tank" scene and coach him better for the debates, among other things?
