I thought I had made this thread before but searching for threads made by me it doesn't appear...maybe I just thought of making it but never did it...
Anyway.
So. One of the most controversial events in recent English football was the saga of Wimbledon FC and their plot to leave behind not just Wimbledon, but London, to find an area where they could attract more of a fan base.
In the end they moved to Milton Keynes, a new town near London which was founded after the war and which, despite a large population, didn't have a football team remotely of note.
In British football the idea of teams moving the way they do in London is just unheard of, it is sacriledge. That they managed to do so....just amazing. It was a big deal.
But it could have been an even bigger deal.
Though Wimbledon eventually settled on MK there were a lot of other places to move to under consideration.
One of which...was Dublin.
So....what if....Wimbledon do move to Dublin. What impact would this have? Not only are they moving much further away, not just to a different country to England, but an entirely different state altogether.....
