WI: Donald Trump 2000

What if Donald Trump had gotten the reform party nomination for president in 2000? How well would he have done? who would have been his running mate? What would this have meant for the future of the reform party?

He might get 1% at absolute best if Bush runs a miserable campaign. I wonder if it's possible for that to make a 269-269 scenario and throw it to congress. Making a Bush/Liberman thing happen.

The republican party wasn't ready for him back then. They needed eight years of boiling turmoil and then a tea party revolution to demolish the establishment first. This election is a special one, the large number of people in the primaries give him a golden chance that comes once every 50 years or so.

This is about Trump being the Reformparty nominee, not Republican.

Trump was actually a liberal at this point (and probably still is;)). Keep in mind that at this point he openly identified as such, supported gun control, was pro-choice, and supported the establishment of a single payer healthcare system.

So he would actually steal more votes from Al Gore and actually help Bush, perhaps giving him a plurality and a non-controversial election victory.

Side note: With all of this in mind I surprised that he has such a base in the GOP.
