What if, in 1947, there was a different partition of Palestine. What if, instead of creating a one state that was majority Palestinian, and one evenly split between Jews and Palestinians, a more sensible plan was adopted, an actual majority-Jewish state was created. Would the 1948 Arab-Israeli War still happen? Would Jordan and Egypt still attempt a blatant land grab afterwards? Would the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as we know it still exist? How would this effect Arab nationalism, and later extremists of both religions?
A rough sketch of what I have in mind. Would a partition that looked more line this lead to a more peaceful Levant, or is major conflict inevitable after partition?
