WI Different inheritance after Carlos V

After Carlos abdicate, the Burgundian inheritance is given instead to his brother, and his son get Spanish and Italian possessions, having still a spot in the HRE through Milan.

Not only this will allow Spain to focus on the Mediterranean and Colonies oversea, without being bogged down with a war in the far Netherlands, to which Austria has easier access to, but will also strengthen Austria position at the head of the HRE.

Assuming the Portugal succession crisis to still happen, will Spain be able to integrate the three Iberian crowns more easily this time around? Will Spain retain its colonial possession for a longer period of time?

Can Spain keep its Italian possession for longer too, or will Italy be separated in the long run as a new Habsburg branch?

Will a stronger and richer Austria be able to centralize the HRE in future? Or maybe unite a German Empire earlier than OTL?

The possibilities are endless.

Charles will not give Burgundy to Ferdinand and at the time of his abdication their fate was already long decided. You need an earlier POD and a slightly different form of heritage: OTL Charles was undecided for long time if Burgundy was to be inhereited by his son Philip or by his eldest daughter Mary so you need simply to change that choice, well before Philip wedding to his cousin Mary Tudor. Mary was married to her first cousin Maximilian, eldest son and heir of Ferdinand, so you have what you asked.

At the time of the abdication both Milan and Naples were already owned by Philip while Netherlands were destined to the eventual children of his second wedding to Mary Tudor. Ferdinand instead was King of Bohemia and Hungary and King of the Romans (who was the title of the elected heir of the Holy Roman Emperor)
