WI:Dieppe raid successful

Nothing really. IIRC correctly it was never planned as anything more than a raid. Even if the port was seized there were no forces ready and waiting in Britain to exploit it. The Allies would have had to evacuate it as soon as the Germans brought up enough artillery to bombard the place.

The real effects would show up later during Overlord, with the Allies maybe attempting to capture a port from the outset.

Right. One of the ironies of WWII is that a completely successful Dieppe Raid might have actually made the situation worse for the Allies in the long run, because it might have persuaded them that they could successfully attack and seize a major port at the outset of an invasion.
