WI: Dick Cheny dies in 2001.

I was searching the web when I came across this...

Apparently, CNN.com has a number of pre made obituaries for people who are either A: Really Old. B: Have been diagnosed with a deadly disease or C: Are admitted to the Hospital for whatever reason.

This obituary was made when Dick Cheny went into Heart Surgery in June of 2001.

So this got me thinking...What if Dick Cheny had died while under the knife? Who would George W. Bush choose to replace the office of VPOTUS? Would affect The Bush Administrations policies? How would this affect history?

This could have a major effect on 2008 elections, if Cheney dies in 01 then we could possibly see Trent Lott or Bill Frist, maybe even Lamar Alexander. The Vice President is likely to win 2008 Republican nomination, which would mean he would either have to go a great deal further than McCain to distance himself from Bush or possibly be destroyed by either Obama or Hilary Clinton

Well, Bush may have been set on going to war with Iraq, and we know the US would retaliate after 9/11...but would the "unitary executive" policies continue with someone besides Cheney in the White House? (IMHO, if Donald Rumsfeld was true to his own rules* the unitary executive would be a lot different...)

I thought that Cheney did die in 2001 after his 19th heart attack and his soul--wait, he already sold that--his spirit was transferred into the body of a large, somewhat unkempt but cleanly shaved bruin. Is this a DBWI?

Had to be Rumsfeld. Bush wanted a VP who wouldn't be running on his own in '08 so there'd be no WH mischief going on during the elections. He couldn't exist in a work environment that wasn't 100% loyal. And besides, he still needed someone to tell him what to do and what to think. Rumsfeld fit the bill perfectly.:D

Theres much debate about how much influence Cheney had over the President. Of course the wags would like to say that Bush was the puppet and Cheney the master, so that leaves the question, what does the puppet do when it has no strings?
