David II Bruce was born in 1324 and in 1328 married Joan of the Tower sister of King Edward III, the couple had no issue and were often thought to despise one another.
David died in 1371 without issue and was succeeded by his nephew Robert the Stewart who founded the Stewart Dynasty.
My question is, if David II had had a son by Joan of the Tower, born in say 1341 what might have been different? Obviously it is likely that the Stewarts would never come to the throne, but who would this son of David II marry? Having a claim to England, might he with French support try to claim that throne?
