WI: David Hasselhoff Plays Nick Fury in the Marvel Movie-verse?

So although few might remember it, David Hasselhoff actually played Nick Fury in the past and has said that he hopes he'll get to play the character again.

What if when the Marvel-verse films are being shot in the 2000s (the character's first appearance was in a post-credits scene of Iron Man in 2008, BTW) Samuel L Jackson is unavailable for whatever reason and the people in charge approach Hasselhoff to play the role again? (Remember, the character plays a rather minor role in the early films)

How would the moviegoers react? Would the Marvel films be able to turn Hasselhoff's career around like they did for Robert Downey Jr?

Even though SLJ's role was technically minor in screen-time at the get-go it served a huge importance in being the dominant figure to establish and connect the Marvel cinematic universe.

I believe he was signed to a 9 picture deal almost from the get-go from Marvel.

David Hasselhoff's career would have had to have undergone a huge change as he has been seen as a bit of a joke figure since at least the end of Baywatch. I can't see him being brought on for anything MCU related aside from a funny cameo and certainly not a pivotal role.

Not to mention the actual Ultimate Marvel Fury was actually modeled on Samuel in the hope he'd one day play that role. If for whatever reason he turned it down I'd actually see them going after another older black actor, maybe Laurence Fishburn for the role.

Pretty much this, even if they went with the 'white' Nick Fury I can't seen them picking Hasselhoff, they are going to want someone more A-List
