WI: Darren Wilson Indicted

What if Officer Darren Wilson had been Indicted for the death of Michael Brown? How would the trial go? Would he Convicted, Acquitted, or would there be a hung jury? If He is Acquitted, would there be more riots?

Considering what actually happened, I think if Wilson were indicted, police everywhere across the US would let their displeasure be felt in a major way. What happened in NYC when they turned their backs on De Blasio after the murder of the two cops would be tame by comparison. If the authorities can't backstop a cop who plainly acted in self defense, God help us.

Considering the situation regarding the case, I think its unlikely he receives punishment. From what I remember, existing evidence was in his favor.

I think it would become another CNN court drama and attract a ton of attention, obviously.

I think a lot of people would be upset by what they perceived to be someone being crucified by the court of public opinion.

I don't see this having any big effect on much of anything, though, other than seeing someone who is likely innocent being dragged through the courts, but it wouldn't be the first time this happened.

Evidence? Wilson's "injuries" weren't even real!

Considering the clear bias of the prosecution he almost certainly isn't convicted. Most likely both the defense and prosecutor do their best to stack the jury with sympathetic witnesses, and it ends up as a great miscarriage of justice regardless.

More or less what I take from it, no idea if a show trial would do anything to help tame the outrage.

What I meant by evidence was that the charges brought up by the Prosecution on him were charges really difficult to actually prove under the circumstances. They overcharged him, and it may have been from either an effort to overcompensate to seem like they were not biased when there was so much concern about that, or merely because they knew that he would not be indicted.

But even if it did somehow go to trial, I don't see how he goes to jail.

Yeah, its fortunate that Michael Brown had the good grace to not survive the encounter. We are spared the outrageous lies the thug would be telling. We won't get distracted from Wilson's complete and truthful recounting of the events.

True that. Did you see the way the Cleveland police, from top to bottom, stood behind the cops that snuffed Tamir Rice, even when they LIED about everything they did? That video from a security camera at the park was decidedly inconvenient. The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor even produced a report that says the killing was justified. I wonder if that report explained why the cops felt the need to LIE in the encounter report? I'd guess they skipped that part.

No matter what source you believe, Darren Wilson is a murderous, incompetent, moron. He blew someone's brains out and does not have any trouble sleeping (murderous). He let a flabby overweight teen male get unsecured hands near his service weapon (incompetent). Ok, "moron" is a medical term. Wilson is not a moron.

Have you read the DOJ report on Ferguson? I really liked the part where the court would send out summons to show up before the judge at 9:00am, unlock the doors at 9:15am, then fine everyone a few hundred dollars for being late. That's breaking smile cute!

Then there is the policeman that gave out a seat-belt ticket to a man sitting in a parked car cooling off, charging him with paedophilia (apparently there were some children in eyesight), then arresting him because the victim said his name is "Mike" when his ID says "Michael". What a joy to live in Ferguson.

Then there is the grand jury, where the prosecutor knowingly put perjured testimony favorable to Wilson before the jury. Someone please explain why that is not a career ending move. Please.

The city of Ferguson runs the police as a profit center. They hire goons to shake down residents and dress them in police uniforms. There are not a lot of good reasons to blindly accept the word of people that do that.

From the tone of your post, you have never had to worry that some undercover plain clothes police will snatch your 12yo daughter off your front lawn, try to stuff her in the back of a nondescript unmarked van, and beat her senseless when she resists. You don't have to worry about that. And that is a good thing, a very good thing. I don't worry about things like that either. Speaking from experience, 'tis a blessing to be white. Truely a blessing.
