WI:Czech as the Linguafranca of Slavs

Yet one important thing:

To be Czech (in a linguistic sense) did not equal to be Hussite. The first state that began use the Czech as official language (in 1420) was Duchy of Opavia. Sigismund of Luxemburg and Matthias Corvinus regularly enacted charters written in Czech. One of anti-hussite stronghold in Bohemia was Czech dominated city of Pilsen. On the other hand many Germans were supporters of Jan Hus (most notable example is royal consort Sophia of Bavaria) and after the explosion of Hussite wars many Germans were ardent Hussites (even the successor of Žižka, Procopius Rassus was ethnic German). Among towns in Bohemia, there was at least one with German speaking majority (Schüttenhofen). So Hussite movement did not automatically equal with Czech national consciousness.
