Cyrus, The Younger, was a Persian nobleman who claimed the Achaemenid throne in the late 5th century BCE, slightly after the Peloponnesian War raging in Greece. He also hired a few thousand Greek mercenaries (including the famous Xenophon) to fight for him in his bid for the throne against Artaxerxes II. Eventually, Cyrus was defeated at the Battle of Cunaxa in 401 BCE. His armies were disbanded, and his Greek mercenaries were forced to retreat back into Anatolia.
But what if Cyrus, The Younger, had won? What sort of internal and foreign policies would he prefer? Could he estabilish a Perso-Spartan alliance in some way?
