In OTL most mainland nations escaped Spanish rule in the early part of the 19the century. Cuba did not.
WI Cuba had joined the mainland nations in becoming independent. How much of a difference would that make?
Would there still be those in the US who wanted Cuba to become a state?
My impression is that the new nations (except Brazil) clearly rejected formal slavery. I do not know about Cuba.
Oh and assuming this butterflies out the Spanish American War how big a difference does this make to the United States power?
