Around 71 BC, when the Third Servile War was in it's final stages, with one slave army already destroyed, Spartacus was out of options and engaged Crassus' army at the Battle of the Silarus River. The battle was quite fierce, and Spartacus himself attempted to reach Crassus, who was on his horse. He killed 2 centurions but he failed to reach Crassus, and collapsed on his legs, being killed. The slave army was quickly defeated and the rebels eventually crucified. What if Spartacus had succeeded, killing Crassus. I know that Spartacus is still doomed in the long run, but when and how the revolt is defeated has great implications. How are the political careers of Pompey and Caesar affected? What happens to the Republic?
