WI Council of Trent suspended permanently in 1555?

In 1545 Pope Paul III convoked a General Synod iin Trent in order to confront the Protestant Reformation... The Synod continued under Pope Julius III but it was suspended by Pope Paul IV... In OTL it was reopened by Pope Pius IV who concluded it...
WI Council of Trent halted permanently in 1555 and never reopened? How is this altering Church History, Catholicism and Protestantism?

Pope Paul IV who was violently anti-Protestant suspended the Synod because he thought he could stop Reformation with violent means (harsher Inquisition etc.) My WI referred on Paul IV's successors... Pius IV was a Grand Inquisitor too (like Paul IV before his election) but he reopened the council...

Spontaneously without much research ....:

Theoretically any outcome of the council might as well have been put through by papal edict. Of course, the council has more authority, especially it was binding for popes yet to come.
Hence a TL very much like ours is possible,
but also one with an anti-hardliner pope at some point thereafter,
who turns the Church upside down.

However, Trient / Trento established many of the rules the Church would adhere to for a long time. Perhaps a single pope would not have been able, or courageous enough to do this work of consolidation.
Thus we get a lot of new TLs where the Church is not as strictly administered as in OTL, to its own advantage or disadvantage.

A Catholic Church without Trent Council would be more vulnerable to Protestant influence i guess... A "lapsed" Pope perhaps and a new Western Schism with 2 Popes (or maybe more...)

And those violent means didn't work, so any successors would have deal with the problem some how.

Maybe even harsher methods... Burning Protestants, banning countries with interdicts, Papal armies razing Italy and HRE etc. Pius IV used these methods as Grand Inquisitor... Why not as Pope?

Besides i insist that a Catholic Church without Trent Council would be vulnerable to Protestant influence... The danger of a new Western Schism would be more than a mere thought (thus splitting Western Europe in 3... Traditionalist Catholics with a rival Pope in Rome, Protestant-leaning Catholics with a "lapsed" Pope somewhere maybe France or Germany and Protestants flooding North Europe...)
How possible is a union of Protestant-leaning Catholics or Protestants with the Orthodox Church in the East if Council of Trent was stopped?
