A British Conservative government would have declared war on the German Empire at the beginning of August 1914, but how would its policies differ from those of the Liberal and Liberal led coalition governments during World War 1 in OTL? Would they have invited the Liberal and Labour Parties into a coalition government. And if so would it have been in 1915, 1916 or later? I assume that it would not be in 1914.
I would expect that a Conservative government would introduce conscription sometime in 1915. Also there would most probably have been no Gallipolli campaign which was the brainchild of Winston Churchill.
A Conservative government or Conservative led coalition government would have had the same policy towards any rebellion in Ireland as the Liberal led coalition had towards the Easter Rising in April 1916 in OTL.
Would such a government in power result in the earlier victory for the Entente Powers? If so how much earlier?
There would have been no Asquith/Lloyd George split in the Liberal Party, therefore in the election immediately after the end of the war that party would have been united and elected more MPs than the combined total of 163 Coalition and Independent Liberals in OTL. Therefore a united Liberal Party would have been more able to resist the rise of Labour.
I would expect that there would have been less of a drift of radical or pacifist Liberals to Labour than in OTL, and the Liberal Party would have largely preserved its radical credentials.
