WI Communists qon the 1996 Russian Presidential Elections?

The Russian presidential election of 1996 of OTL resulted in a narrow win for Yeltsin. The Communist candidate Gennady Zyuganov, only lost the election by a 3% margin.

So what if Zyuganov campaigned better and managed to win the election? What would be the affects of a Communist government ruling the Russian Federation? How would this change the geopolitical setting in world affairs? How would Russia be affected?

Relations would freeze over again quickly.

It depends wha the Communists planned to do,keep Russia democratic or eliminate the Duma again?

Still this is very interesting its weird no-one picked up on it before.

Yeltsin would of course still win in the Run-Off election, so very few changes.

It would be interesting that the Communist got the plurality of votes (even though only 35%), but nothing would really change.

Had the communists won, I very much doubt things would have been that much different. Haven't communists won elections in one or two former-communist nations, anyway?
