WI: Colts draft Ryan Leaf in the '98 NFL Draft

@RySenkari Pagging you....

Well.....Well...we cardinals kicked out as we traded that pick(we still have jake plummer but still) well depends...Spanos in san diego is a infamous PoS scrooge who would hold out with Peyton for his rookie money... again they might get him and with a junio seau lead defense they might get WC in that time(both times were pretty the same)

But Indy...iNDY....

Well, Kevin Gilbride may hang around longer in San Diego, but if not, Mike Riley would be his coach. Riley had a decent college track record of getting good production from his QBs-- what's interesting is putting Manning in a super traditional WCO as opposed to what Jim Mora had him running in Indy, which he was prolific in.

Card fans will be angry and will always look back at what could have been. I would laugh if this scenario led to Colts and the Chargers sharing a stadium in LA

Of Course as we never rated leaf that high(manning was because we could later trade either QB)and yeah would be...and don't doubt it(unless Indy pull a san diego and got both Brees and LT)

I can see Arizona taking Peyton and trading Plummer.
We already traded the pick unless we renegaded the deal when hear Colt Pick...so that is a miss because in TC manning would be plummer and we could trade Plummer...to San Diego...

Since Ryan had an outlier low trajectory in OTL, I think almost any change is likely to bring his career more back toward the middle regarding the universe of total possibilities. Just that there are more ways for events to go middle than outlier.

See our TL as example( as better coaching allow him to develop his potential but his personality did still make him to make big mistakes ...)

So... More pennies here?

"Looks like it's going to be Pats-Chargers dominating the AFC," Steve Young told the others on the Sports Show.

"East Coast Vs West Coast, Brady Vs Manning," Deion Sanders nodded smiling from ear to ear.

"Well that's if we go the Parallelism route," Sal Palantonio tried to explain, "we're killing a lot of butterflies here, ain't that right Boomer?"

Chris Berman looked at Palantonio like he was from another planet.

"Sal," he told the other sports reporter, "there ain't no butterflies big enough to stop Brady Vs Manning!"

If you were to brainstorm the best place for Leaf to land in terms of grooming him, where would it be? Seattle with Holmgren coming in a year? Gruden in Oakland, perhaps?

I kind of wonder if any of the Bellichick/Parcells/Holmgren type coaches would put up with him. It would need to be a combination of a players-ish coach that also can groom quarterbacks.

. . . ( as better coaching allow him to develop his potential . . .
Maybe Ryan's quarterback coach, meaning the coach he spent the most time with on a day-by-day basis, could say to him early on, the media's going to talk some shit, in fact, that's half the fun.

And maybe some of the players and coaches could even have an informal contest, the jackass media question of the week.

Let's just send him off to the 49ers b/c Mooch would have fun trying to deal with him.

Ryan leaf imo could have become a decent QB in the NFL at best he'd be like Alex smith and at worst he'd be a journey man like Fitzpatrick. But unfortunately for him in otl he was drafted by the the chargers, the garbage fire of the league. He wasn't given stability since spanos didn't given him a QB coach to work with for an entire season. (kinda makes you appreciate Drew Brees for coming out a great QB from the same situation)

So at the colts Leaf will succeed, after a very bad start (not Alex smith bad, but ehh) but will get better with time as the colts will provide him with stability and weapons to work with especially since they'll be high in the draft board for the first couple of seasons. If he manages to turn around the colts luck and get them a ring or two he may end up in the HOF. But most likely scenario will be that the colts draft Aaron Rodgers in 2005 and like Alex smith he gets traded away after Roders jumps up the depth chart.

Imo in this scenario old Archie and Peyton will do what old Archie and Eli did in 2004, refuse to sign for the chargers and get traded to he giants, after the commissioner Paul Tagliabue orchestras a coup against al Davis's attempt to nap peyton like Pete Rozelle did in 83 with Elway :p

Yeah depend a lot of things but Indy Getting Aaron Rodgers to remplace leaf is something too...

That Spoiler: Well that can happen and those giants will be stacked, OTL tin 1998 barely missed the playoff..here i can imagine they can win a lot and knock either us or dallar out of playoffs, with manning under center i imagine they would even beat the ravens in SB XXXV denying their ring..the rest we can just imagine.
