WI: Colonial Integration

After WWII the Netherlands lost against the rebelion in Indonisia and after that they got rid of most of their colonies. But what if they never fought against with the rebels but peace fully talked with them. From that talk a referendum is being done to see who wanted to stay and who not.

I know that the people there hated the Dutch but what if some off the islands wanted to stay because the amoung of Dutch living there was just enough and/or that some of the other people rather wanted to stay with the Netherlands. Lets say that one medium sized island and a handfull of smaller once stayed with the Dutch. The people who wanted to leave go to the other islands and the people that wanted to stay left to the Dutch islands.

Same thing happens with the ABC islands, Sint Maarten and Surinam. These places were much more pro Dutch sofar I could see. What if they were integrated as well and became full provinces. the ABC islands and Sint Maarten became one province and Surinam became multiple smaller provinces.

How would this have affected our current time and how would this affect the EU as they now have borders in South America and Asia.

Are they completely part of Frans or like the Netherlands and a nation within the Kingdom?

So, if rebels burn down government buildings and kill officials, Dutch are supposed to do what?
Dutch authorities did try to talk to rebels, work out some sort of agreement. It didn't work, rebels wanted totally independent greater Indonesia. When they got initial independence without western New-Guinea, they immediately started scheming to take over it, without concern about wishes of New-Guineans... and proceeded to kill a lot of New-Guineans in process of integrating the territory.

Cayenne, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Mayotte, and Reunion are all proper departments of France. Places like Saint-Martin and French Polynesia (basically everything else except the departments listed earlier and New Caledonia, which is weird) are overseas collectivities, which are almost like departments but they aren't obliged to follow EU laws (only Saint-Martin is part of the EU, for instance) and otherwise they have self-government comparable to British overseas possessions.

Absolutely no way Indonesia would ever stay a subject of the Netherlands. The Netherlands had no legitimacy as a colonial power, nor did any of the other such states, and as soon as there was a politically active class in Indonesian society the Dutch were going to be kicked out sooner or later. There is no reason for Indonesians to have a stake in the Dutch colonial empire, in particular as they outnumbered the Dutch by about 15 to 1. The other Dutch colonies were possible to integrate simply due to being so small and having no desire to be subsumed by larger neighbours i.e. for practical reasons. Indonesia had no such worries.
