I disagree, the divorce would end both their careers. It was only because Hillary "stood by her man" that the Feminists in the US had the political cover to stand by Bill Clinton as well. Otherwise they'd have been revealed as being even more hypocritical than they already were. Without that Feminist support, Bill Clinton would've been even more politically isolated. Any of his Democratic supporters would've had to counter the allegations that they were "waging a war against women" by siding with the "sexual predator" that was Bill Clinton. There would be no defense to that and Bill's political support within his own party would've vaporized.
For Hillary, she'd have "joined with the jackals" to tear Bill Clinton apart. It would, somehow, have been
her fault that things got that bad between them. No, that's not a rational position but you'd better believe it's the emotionally based one which'd sell. And without the hugely popular Bill Clinton - even after the Lewinsky/Impeachment mess, Bill still was (and is) hugely popular - the shrill, inflexible, and unappealing Hillary has nothing to keep her political career going.
Even making use of the political dirt they'd no doubt accumulated over the years, I still don't think that'd have been enough to keep her political prospects alive without Bill at her side. A Hillary
Rodham-Clinton has a lot more political power than a Hillary Rodham-
Clinton could ever have.
Bill's political career is gone, Hillary's is probably fine.
