WI - Chukotka included in Alaska Purchase

Read elsewhere of the Russians at one point considering adding isolated territories like Chukotka (or limited to just said territory) to the Alaska Purchase in OTL, what if it actually happened?

Aside from the possibility of a Bering Strait Crossing being a more viable proposition amid US-Soviet tensions due to sharing a common border with each other, what other effects would there be with Chukotka being part of the US (possibly attached to Alaska due to its low population)?

Also would Chukchi jokes become a thing in the US?

Very likely, Magadan road will be completed much earlier - as part of infrastructure buildup on both sides.
Chukchi jokes are unlikely to be popular in the US - the successive spread of such stereotypes is very sensitive to timing, and likely it was too late by 1867.

I'm skeptical of this, why would Russia purposefully create a land border with another nation, why give them land they don't need?

Not sure of the rationale behind Russia including Chukotka to the Alaska Purchase, found mention of it in the following thread. It may be the case Chukotka like Far Eastern territories such as Sakhalin was considered a bit of a white elephant at the time.
