This isn't a thread of how to get both regions to be majority Christianity. This is asking what would happen if that were the case.
My reply was on how it would be difficult to get them to become Christian- which you explicitly said was not what you wanted the thread to be about.

If I remember correctly, wasn't Pyongyang known (before the split) as the Jerusalem of the East at one point because of its large Christian community? Been a while since I saw the original reference, so take it with a grain of salt.

Yeah Pyongyang was 25% Christian in 1945 which was really high compared to the reat of the country which was only 2% Christian.

What really helped Protestantism grow was how many Protestants had good anti-Japanese bonafieds especially with the old mssionary schools being the only way to get a modern education outside of the Japanese system. Post-war Buddhism was a complete clusterfuck that couldn't compete because many monks married during the Japanese occupation and then celebate monks saw the married monks as illegitimate and tried to out them from temples, sometime by hiring gangsters.

Protestantism's post-war influence is kind of biting it in the ass now since it's associated in a lot of people's minds with crusty old holdovers from the dictatorship while the Catholics were much more involved with the democracy movement.

Also right now there's quite a large anti-Protestant backlash due to their really aggressive stance. So the average age of Protestants is rising fast.
