WI: Chinese reforms 30 years earlier

In the 1950s the Chinese Communist Party had 3 visions for developing the economy:

Mao-Stalinist collectivization

Chen Yun-Bukharinite view of developing market relations in the countryside, like NEP

Zhou Enlai-The Yugoslavia model applied to China

In otl Mao won and collectivization and the Great Leap Forward disasters followed. What if Mao right after the Korean War conveniently drowns while swimming? Say Zhou and Chen Yun's plans are carried out. Chen Yun's reforms looked superficially like Deng's 1980s reforms. How does China do and what does the world look like?

China performs better in the 50s, 60s, and 70s with more urbanization and development as 1980 rolls around. Maybe China can convince the world that they are the Yugoslavia of the East under Zhou's Model. I like Zhou's model the best. It serves as the greatest chance for China to engage the non Soviet bloc even earlier than the 1970s
