WI: Chinese former colonies in Alaska and California

I've seen it too many times in EU4……
What would happen if Ming colonied North American West Coast and the colonies gain indenpendence when Ming collapsed (and another dynasty formed in China(maybe Qing or not))?
What will its relationship with USA, Mexico and Britain be?
How will it influence WWI?

The Mind wouldn't have the ships or supplies to do it, now would they have sufficient numbers to colonize the area, especially without a long stream of immigrants. Plus why would they leave the Kingdom of Heaven for some far off land they probably don't know about? A
Also, the Ming loyalists couldn't even cover much of Taiwain. Might be better for them to try for the Phillipines.

EU4 now has the Chinese regularly colonising North America? It never used to. Ew.

It will colonise all land up to the American Continental Divide. Or try. If Spain still conquers Mexico, then Spain is the primary enemy because they'd be pushing north.

World War I won't exist.

Reasons to sail East always exist, not the least the mythical quest for the elixir of life.
Colonisation would require a different Ming, but who can say China doesn't have the human reservoir...!
A California-based former colony would be a major continental power, if not a global one.

Improbably. They had everything they wanted and just because you have loads of people doesn't mean you see a need to send them away so someone else can use their labor or to create a base for someone else to use. Though perhaps having a mission going through the Pacific looking for people to send tribute to the Emperor might work. Makes a lot less sense than with the one going around India and East Africa, though. Anyone know if the Chinese had any experience with extracting gold and silver the Spanish might be able to use? Perhaps they try renting their services, and pay with gold and silver.

China has the resources to do this ten times over. The only problem is that China lacks the motivation. So much so that this would be an idea that only a very, very bored mandarin could have dreamt up. I'd say a Chinese colony would probably be in Taiwan, the Philippines, Borneo (ie the Lanfang Republic), Malacca or Australia.

Certainly true. The best way of getting attention to the New World before Europeans do it is to have an expansionist Japan go up Hokkaido, the Kuriles, Kamchatka, and eventually Alaska. I'd think once it's realised that the coast of North America curves southwards and there's more temperate land (instead of just more frostbitten land where frostbitten barbarians live) they might have some idea.

It isn't like there's anything the barbarians on the other side of the Pacific have to offer, aside from maybe intriguing Chinese traditional medicine ingredients (once someone declares whatever American thing of value in Chinese traditional medicine). At least until you find gold and silver, which is decently inland and which the natives don't really have a clue of the scale.

If they go to nowadays Mexico, however, that's a different story, since those "barbarians" have much better stuff to offer than PNW and California natives. Probably would result in Chinese communities in Mesoamerica and even the Andes.
