WI: China joins Warsaw Pact

What if China had joined the Warsaw pact? Was China capable of Joining the Warsaw pact, or was China just not interested? What effects might this have had on the Cold War?

I preferably would like China to join the Warsaw pact before 1968.

Well I could see the USSR having a talk with China about having an easier way to get nuclear weapons if they keep the US off their guard. But you know, if you give someone nuclear weaponry they'll want to know if they got ripped off, and they'll test it. Maybe Chinas first nuclear test signifies whether or not they join the Warsaw Pact; they refuse the USSRs deal and instead ask the other members to let them join. Screw what the USA thinks now that the Warsaw Pact is gigantic It's Europe that will fall faster, and the WARSAW Pact is in Europe. They've got to protect the interests of the worker in Poland form getting smashed by a NATO Invasion.

You know, in Communism Land that is an act of solidarity.;)

Honestly I don't think it would be invited, the Warsaw Pact, more properly the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance was really a European thing, more a reaction to the formation of NATO than a true Comunist Defence Treaty.

That said you could perhaps get something akin to the Collective Security Organization going that would include the USSR, Warsaw pact countries, China, Vietnam, Cuba and maybe a few others.
