WI: Charles XII survives at Fredriksten

Well the marriage of the Old Pretender to a Russian Grand Duchess could be interesting.
Though, would the Stuarts be as dependent on Carl XII as Görtz was i.e. a bayonet government?

I'm guessing Frediksten would fall and the whole death march would be avoided. Perhaps Denmark can be brought to a favorable peace.

Charles XII was improving relations with his old enemy Peter latter in his rein. Perhaps relations between Sweden and Russia could be improved since Charles is more focused westward at this point.

It would be interesting if he was able to build up Sweden's military power again and perhaps fight Austria and influence events in Poland.

Why a war against Austria? Did he not have enough enemies to deal with already? Getting Britain and Austria too in the other camp seems rather unwise.

Now, a peace with Russia where Sweden cedes Narva, Viborg and Ingermanland, but gets Finland, Estonia, Livonia, and maybe Courland back, plus Russian support in swiftly ending the war with the remaining enemies, Sweden perhaps getting Norway Sunnanfjells, while Denmark keeps the Norwegian Atlantic coast.

The Swedish parts of Germany might not be almost completely lost in this peace, since Sweden is not trying to get allies against Russia.
