WI: Charles of Valois, Duke of Berry marries Mary of Burgundy?

Before marrying Maximilian of Austria, Mary of Burgundy was betrothed to the brother of King Louis XI of France, Charles, Duke of Berry. The Pope even gave them dispensation to marry, despite Louis' efforts to block it, but then Charles died in 1472, either from tuberculosis or a veneral disease picked up from his mistress.

What if Charles had not fallen ill and died and the marriage had gone ahead? I've heard that such an outcome might lead to a more decentralised France, at least in the short term.

Any thoughts?

Well, if Charles and Mary have a son, this son becomes king of France in 1498 or later if Charles of Berry is still alive then and becomes Charles IX of France.

Well, if Charles of Berry lives as long as his brother and Charles VIII still dies in 1498 without issue, I could see Berry ruling as Charles IX from about 1498 to 1506.

As for any future marriages, I know that Francis II of Brittany (father of Anne of Brittany) and Charles of Berry were allies, so if something like OTL still happens, I could see Charles arranging a betrothal between one of his sons and Francis' daughter. But I could also see Louis XI being hellbent on preventing anything like it from happening.
