WI challenge - USA invasion of Portugal

Recently declassified files from 1975 show that USA had a plan to invade Portugal if the Carnation Revolution turned Communist or pro-soviet.
In our TL, the election of PS in 1976 and the first reforms to democracy inviabilized the american plan but WI the revolution did turn Communist.

The challenge is:

Make the revolution turn left

Make USA invade

Bonus if there is a civil war bettween communist and pro-ocidentals and independent isles (madeira and Azores) and perhaps even a new monarchy (monarchy was and is supported by many in Portugal but kinda UK monarchy)

And the Soviets have effectively written Portugal off if the USA does manage to invade.

Under the Anglo-Portugese Treaty England would have to declare war on American and under Article V of the NATO Charter America would have to declare war on America.

As technically Britain, Portugal and America are all allied to each the USAF is so overwhelmed by this target rich environment it has to go and have a lie down in a darkened room.
