WI: Central Powers "Victory", but A-H still collapses

What it says on the tin. What if, through whatever means/POD you want, the Central Powers manage to win World War 1, but either during or shortly after the war Austria-Hungary collapses similar to OTL.

How does this affect the peace negotiations, or Germany's post-war plans?

Some say it is "inevitable" ...

If it looks like the CPs will win A-H will not immediately collaps, so a collapse will not affect peace negotiations

A later collapse - well depends by what means it Comes - Revolution? failed Ausgleich? external means (war again?) - peaceful Dissolution of the empire faciliated by Karl being head of all sucessor states (dominionation)

if German Empire win WWO
it's very likely that germans remains of Austria Hungary become part of German Empire.

Upper Austria (Oberösterreich)
Lower Austria (Niederösterreich)
German Bohemia (Deutschböhmen)
Sudetenland
Styria (Steiermark)
Salzburg
Carinthia (Kärnten)
Tyrol (Tirol)
Vorarlberg

And that around 40 German speaking parts of Austria Hungary Empire become independent states under protection of German Empire.
Like Brünn (Brno), Iglau (Jihlava) and Olmütz (Olomouc) or Siebenburgen.

I'd expect Germany to take Bohemia/Moravia in toto, or at least make the Czech portions closely linked a la Luxembourg. Ditto, probably, for the Slovene provinces.

Croatia may break away from Hungary, but I don't see why the "lesser Hungary" should break up, as the Magyars outnumber all other ethnic groups combined, and occupy a central position, so can probably hold things together.

Should we take it Serbia is still independent though perhaps a little chopped up with the Albanians, Montenegrins, and Bulgarians having chunks of them? And did Austria gain any of Italy? Will anything be done about the large amounts of Germans in Hungary?

Okay so I'm assuming a situation where Serbia and Montenegro have experienced minimal border changes but are essentially protectorates of A-H.

I don't think that it's particularly likely that the Austrians would split off of Hungary. Instead I think that it's more likely that the Germans will backstab their own ally. There will probably be a Congress of Berlin type deal when it becomes clear that the Slavs can't be bottled up, and A-H will be divides between newly independent states, other local powers and Germany itself.
