WI: Ceausescu joined the Iron Guard

Many of the Iron Guard's mooks converted to Bolshevism after 1946. However, I'm pretty certain they weren't allowed in the Party's higher echelons. Those were reserved for people who were Communist enforcers during the late '30s and after the war, during the late '40s. Ceausescu was one such enforcer (apparently, his favourite 'tool' was the knuckleduster).

I bet Romania's going to have a nightmare with an Antonescu-Ceausescu tandem. OTL Romania had them taking power at different times.

One more thing. Ceausescu was very young during the '30s; he was born in 1918, so in 1938 he would've been 20, possibly considered too 'green' for any position of responsibility.

Yeah, the last leader of the Iron Guard, Horia Sima was ten years older then Ceausescu. Ceausescue was only 27 when the war ended, he wouldn't have enough time to become a major leader of the Iron Guard and when the Communists came to power he would probably have been executed.

and when the Communists came to power he would probably have been executed.
Not necessarily. Communists generally didn't want to kill extremists, only moderates. They usually tried to coopt rank-and-file Fascists, killing them only if they proved unrepentant (as opposed to liberals, christian-democrats, social-democrats etc. who, as a rule, were slated for extermination through overworking and exposure). The Communists maintained that the mind who can hold one extremist belief can be 'persuaded' to hold another. The number of Iron Guardists who converted to Communism wasn't small. As I've said previously, the converts were, however, considered untrustworthy of leadership positions.
