WI: Castro sent Cuban special units to the USA to sell Cocaine

What if Fidel Castro sent Cuban special units, disguised as refugees, to the USA? But not for terrorist acts, but rather for selling cocaine in the USA, to bring Cuba millions of Dollars.

If the cocaine trade was successful (Hence the special units, because they could defend themselves very well against rivel dealers), Cuba might have had a steady flow of valuable dollars. Cuba could have either financed socialism with the dollars or just have put it on Castros bank account in Switzerland.

Another thing I wonder is, whether Cuba could have grown drugs on their own? Then, they would have made even more profit. Until the USA finds out at least, and considering that they attacked Panama because of Noriega...

First where does Cuba get said coke? The Miami stopping point for the drug trade tended to involve groups from South America. So to get the drugs, Cuba must be active in creating the industry. That is very hard to cover up.

Entry into the US for said smugglers is easy given the wet/dry laws in place. However the Cubans would have to face Haitian, Jamacian, Italian, Cuban Americans, Mexicans, Russian, Armenian, and every gang under the sun. So you would be adding a level of fire power to the units which honestly makes me see this end in an international incident more then steady income for Cuba.

They do grow drugs, have you ever heard of Nicotine, in Cuban Cigars?

:p

Anyways, if they grew Coca purely for export it would be noticed. However if they made it a legit business in their own nation they would be able to send cocaine to the USA, without too much suspicion; the USA would think it's just cuban refugees addicted to the stuff, not a Communist Plot.

But why on Gods Green Earth do the Communists want to make the Americans even more productive?

Mongoose-wank, together with COINTELPRO. Depending on your POD, the Attorney General will become a de facto Homeland Security Secretary. ;)

Sounds like something out of Operation Northwoods, to be honest.

I have a feeling they'd have a very very tough time trying to break into the market, especially if they just moved into the States. There'd already be an established network of sellers and buyers that trust each other to a certain guarded degree- adding new guys to the mix just upsets that balance.

Maybe if they were to sell this cocaine to established dealers.

You forget that the biggest player and the ultimate controller of the world-wide illegal drug trade is the US Government and its component political parties.

For the Cuban government to be involved in the cocaine trade would involve subsidising the very people trying to overthrow it.
(Although the Cali cartel were allowed to overfly Cuba for some years, there appears to be another deal involved)

Then Cuba is run by the two Bobs- Roberto San Roman and Bobby Kennedy. ;)

Or, some high-ranked politician becomes so addicted from Cuban coke, that he becomes a Cuban puppet. Like, "Become our president, and there'll be so much coke as you can take for you." Is this ASB, our could it have really been, that Cuba gets so much influence through drug trade?
