WI: Castaway culture on Africa/the Americas

On the vein of how we had a polynesian migration into Madagascar which kept their language, could we have some africans landing in a sparsely populated region on the Americas and keeping a language isolate there?
Or, otherwise, some (native) americans landing somewhere in Africa?

Also, which groups would be more probable to do this, assuming a, say, 1000 POD? Or a later one, if you want. I was thinking of those ships who sailed off Mali in 1311.

Discuss, and sorry for any inaccuracies. :p

the Miskito Sambu, who formed from revolted slaves on a Portuguese ship around 1640 who wrecked the vessel on the coast of Honduras-Nicaragua and blended in with the indigenous people over the next half century. They eventually rose to leadership of the Mosquito Coast, and led extensive slave raids against Spanish-held territories in the first half of the 18th century.

Wikipedia, but would this work as a castaway culture?

A society controlled by slaves! They could become some sort of Mamluks!
(I don't have much of a problem with Wikipedia, actually)

However, i was actually thinking of something pre-European discovery. Think of one of those successful Vinland TLs, but with some africans somewhere on Brazil or some native americans somewhere on the west coast of Africa.

the problem with a castaway scenario is you just don't have a large enough population from one ship, you need a sustained migration to have the numbers for a viable breeding population

My idea was not that much of an (ethnical) population surviving unchanged, just the language. Think of... Huh... The turkic languages.
IIRC they stem from Mongolia, but your average turk does not look mongolian, right?

The Turkic languages stemmed from a large swath of Siberia which included some territory of modern Mongolia, they are not Mongolian themselves though.

That said the Turkic languages spread throughout Central Eurasia was the result of large scalce, continuous migrations of entire populations as well as conquest of places by those populations, it's not really comparable to the idea you're looking for.

Also, while people in Turkey, Azerbaijan and the Tatars are all part of the 'White' phenotype group, the rest of the people who speak Turkic languages are in the Asiatic group and do look similar to Mongols.
