WI: Carl Sagan Lives To The Present Day

I was going through Sagan videos on youtube and pondered this. Say Sagan lives to the present day, what impact does he have on the public? Between his death and the emergence of Tyson, nobody really filled the void he left as the go to "science guy" for the American public. I imagine he might be tapped to produce a remake of Cosmos, maybe instead of Tyson. Might he also play a role in public opposition to the Bush administration's climate change policies?

I think he'd be a great supporter or NASA and now also imagine the team of him, Bill Nye and Tyson... *happy sigh*

Tyson? Mike Tyson??? Or Tyson Beef???

Oh Neil Degrease...

For a moment I swear that I imagine Carl Sagan being promotor of Mike Tyson

Sagan helping Musk with his Mars colonization efforts?

I don't really know. Sagan prefered robotic exploration and maybe he would also oppose manned Mars shots because of contamination concerns. Or maybe not, maybe he would be gung-ho about Musk plans. He was pretty unpredictible.

he opposed them when they took money from robotic missions. He dreamed of a human civilization in the stars and recognized that astronauts were the biggest publicity NASA could ever get.

He was actually a rather dedicated marijuana user, hidden in the closet. So he may be a voice in active support for legalization.
Definitely. He would definitely step out of that 'hidden away' zone and actively embrace legalization efforts. Hell, I wouldn't even be surprised if he became the face of the movement. Sagan's a pretty well-known guy, and a very intelligent and successful one at that.

In one of the two biographies of Sagan, the author said he could be viewed as 'paranoid' in a colloquial sense, meaning they he didn't automatically dismiss a big number multiplied by a small number. This was in reference to the possibility of bringing back microbes from the Moon to the Earth, which admittedly was damn unlikely. But if it happened, would be big bad outcome.
