I had put this some years ago (cant locate it now)...
The Papal Conclave of 1455 was divided between 2 factions lead by Latino Orsini and Prospero Colonna respectively.

In the first ballots Cardinal Capranica seemed to reach the required majority but the French Cardinals started voting massively against him because he was associated with Colonna faction.

In the next ballots Cardinals started considering neutral candidates and Cardinal Bessarion received 8 votes (just 2 votes short from the necessary majority)

However before the accessus started Cardinal Coetivy delivered a fierce speech attacking Bessarion for his Greek past. Bessarion didnt defend himself and withdrew his candidacy and the subsequent ballots Cardinal Borja was elected Pope with the votes of French, Spanish and Venetian Cardinals as Pope Callixtus III.

WI Bessarion was elected Pope then? What would be the impact of a Greek Pope in West (especially 2 years after Constantinople's fall).
Bessarion was very austere and wanted to reform the Roman Church so could this end in an early Reformation (or another schism)?
