WI : Caesar defeated at Alesia

What would have happen if somehow Caesar had been defeated at the siege of Alesia in 52 BC ? Would the Gauls under Vercingetorix unite, with a more "centralised" government than the sorta alliance of a myriads of tribe ? What would happen to Caesar, could he continue and try to conquer Gaul or would he be to weakened to try again, losing a way to have enough wealth to please the Roman plebs and pay his legions ? What would have been the reaction of the Senate and particulary of Pompeus ?

EDIT : oups wrong section. Could someone move this thread to the before 1900 section of the forum, please ?
