WI: Byzantine Empire has Emperor That Achieved the Conquests of Alexander the Great?

What if the Byzantine Empire had an emperor that could achieve the conquests of Alexander the Great? How significantly would India and Persia have changed? Could this emperor (if at the appropriate time) contain the spread of Islam?

There's a TL where Temujin got sold as a slave out west and ended up with the Byzies', does that count?

If the Empire had the capabilities and resources to conquer the Sassanids then their probably not going to be sending their armies eastward.

A Byzantine controlled Palestine would butterfly away the Crusades obviously. Perhaps the Crusades in reverse? Though Egypt would be Byzantine, too. If the POD is early enough, Islam may be butterflied away completely. Hopefully the Byzantines retain the knowledge amassed during antiquity if that is the case.

But that's basically having the Eastern Empire maintain its original borders, not repeat Alexander and conquer Persia. One possibility would be if the Romans weren't exhausted right before the Islamic conquest. Then perhaps they could attack the Arabs after they conquered parts of Mesopotamia and Persia, but before they could fully consolidate those conquests.

Yeah, that was sort of what I was thinking.

Late nights and not so deep thoughts, not the best combination.

Well, even then, this prodigious emperor would still have to deal with Khalid first... And this guy was really incredible commander. I think that Romans had better chances to deal with Persia before Islam- Muslims complicated situation way too much.

We could have Justinian go East, and actually let Belisarius actually do his job this time.

As for why he would do this, rather than go after the West... it's difficult to say. Maybe have the western germanic kings follow the Nicene creed, refrain from raiding/pillaging/insulting their subjects, and form some sort of defensive coalition to discourage Roman attempts at reconquest.
