WI: Bush vs. Mondale 1984

So, POD - President Ronald Reagan, while campaigning for re-election in 1984, dies two weeks before the 1984 presidential election - probably of a heart attack, or something along those lines (he was pretty old, of course). George Bush is inaugurated as the 41st President, and the GOP quickly nominates President Bush to replace Reagan. Who becomes the Republican vice-presidential nominee? I'd think President Bush would win in 1984, unless something happens. How would an earlier Bush presidency plan out? How would Iran-Contra work? Would he win re-election in 1988? If so, how does the 1992 election plan out, and who succeeds President Bush? How does politics look today?

Religious Right's influence diminishes. We could see Bill Clinton (who changed his mind a day before his planned announcement IOTL), Gary Hart and Mike Dukakis duking it out in 1988. Iran-Contra is mitigated. I'd say Dick Lugar is an excellent bet for VP. The 1988 and 1992 elections could go either way. If Clinton's the nominee, they can win as long as Atwater and Rove don't find out about Clinton's slick willy.
