WI: Brock Lesnar Stays In The WWE?

Brock Lesnar was seen as one of the up-and-coming stars in the WWE in the early 2000's, and it was thought by many that he would be the next face of the company once Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock had left in ring competition. During his short time with the company though, he did manage to become the youngest WWE Champion during his first title reign, would become a three time Champion, as well as winner of both the 2002 King of the Ring and the 2003 Royal Rumble. And yet, Lesnar left the WWE to pursue a career in the NFL, and later in UFC. He returned to the WWE last year and will be in a match with Triple H at this years Wrestlemania, but it got me wondering...

What if Lesnar had decided to stay in he WWE after Wrestlemania XX? Would he have become the face of the company like so many thought he would? Does that prevent a guy like John Cena from going to the top? How do you see things playing out?

Do you think he'd be primarily heel or face?

I think what led to Lesnar leaving in '04 was that he was pushed to the top so quickly. He debuts on March 18, 2002, the night after WrestleMania. Three months later he wins the King of the Ring Tournament and two months after that, he's WWE Champion. In 5 months and 1 week, he's in a position many wrestlers take years to get to.

Now as champion, he's supposed to be the standard bearer, the one making all of the appearances. This is what led to him being burnt out on the whole company. Maybe if they'd worked up the roster at a slower pace and had him do a run with a secondary title like the Intercontinental or United States title before going for the big one, he might have gotten more used to the fast-paced life on the road for WWE wrestlers.
